Used Container Prices

Second hand 20ft and 40ft steel cargo containers — transparent price position by condition, what to inspect, and same-day quotes.

A used container is a steel cargo container that has served several ocean voyages but remains structurally sound. For storage, site use, modification and domestic use it is far more economical than a new unit. Çelikor supplies condition-verified used containers from its Çatalca and Gebze yards.

Used Container Price Position (2026)

Used units sit in the lower-to-mid part of the cargo container range (50,000-150,000 TL). Price rises with condition (As-Is → WWT → Cargo Worthy) and size (20' → 40' → 40 HC).

What the Condition Grades Mean

  • Cargo Worthy (CW): Suitable for international sea shipping; documented by survey. Required if you ship cargo abroad.
  • Wind & Water Tight (WWT): Keeps out water and wind; the best value-for-money for storage and site use.
  • As-Is: Sold as it stands; suitable for modification, scrap value or static project use.

What to Check When Buying Used

  • Floor (plywood) soundness and moisture
  • Roof, corner posts and bottom-rail corrosion
  • Door gaskets, hinges and locking bars
  • Interior rust, previous cargo odour / chemical traces
  • CSC plate and Cargo Worthy survey for sea shipping

New or Used?

If appearance and warranty are your priority, choose new (one-trip); if budget is the priority and you'll use it for domestic storage/site work, WWT used is the smartest choice. For all types see container prices.

FAQ

Used container prices — FAQ

How much are used (second hand) container prices?
Used containers are priced by condition and sit in the lower-to-mid part of the cargo container range (50,000-150,000 TL). Used 20' is the most economical entry; used 40' and 40 HC sit higher. Exact figures are given the same day by condition and location.
What are the used container condition grades?
Three main grades: Cargo Worthy (CW) — sea-shipping ready, IICL standard; Wind & Water Tight (WWT) — water and wind tight, ideal and affordable for storage; As-Is — sold as it stands, for modification/scrap. For storage, WWT is usually the most balanced choice.
What should I check when buying a used container?
Check the floor (plywood) soundness, roof and corner-post corrosion, door gaskets and locking bars, interior rust/odour and any previous cargo residue. A Cargo Worthy survey is required for sea shipping; WWT is enough for storage only.
What is the price gap between new (one-trip) and used?
A same-size new (one-trip) container costs notably more than a used storage-grade unit. If you won't ship internationally, a visually good used unit lowers the unit cost substantially.
Is a used container suitable for storage?
Yes. A Wind & Water Tight used container is the most popular economical solution for site and yard storage since it stays water- and wind-tight; unlike prefab huts it does not rot and can be relocated.
